Romeo & Juliet

Dramatic Style & Technical Focus

"Romeo & Juliet" is an adaptation of the classic play following Romeo and Juliet, two teens from rival families, the Montagues and Capulets, in Verona. After a street brawl, they meet and fall in love at a Capulet party, not knowing they are enemies. Unlike the traditional tragedy, this version concludes on a happy note, with Romeo and Juliet fleeing to a new life, proving that love can overcome the family feud. Designed for older students, it serves as an excellent introduction to foundational drama theory and stagecraft. The script helps young actors develop technical skills such as understanding basic stage directions , executing stage combat and sword fighting , navigating Shakespearean language and informal grammar (such as the use of 'Thou' and 'Thee'), and exploring early character development through built-in workbook activities.
